Preparing your home for the warmer months...

Here are some tips to prepare your home for warmer weather:

  1. Service your air conditioning unit: Before the weather gets too hot, make sure your air conditioning unit is in good working order. Schedule a professional inspection and cleaning to ensure it's ready to keep you cool all summer long.

  2. Inspect your windows and doors: Check for any air leaks around your windows and doors. Replace any damaged weather stripping or caulking to keep the cool air in and the hot air out.

  3. Install window coverings: Installing blinds or curtains on your windows can help block out the sun and keep your home cooler. Consider using lighter-colored curtains to reflect the heat instead of absorbing it.

  4. Clean your ceiling fans: Clean your ceiling fans and make sure they are rotating in the correct direction. During the summer months, your ceiling fans should be set to rotate counterclockwise to help circulate cool air throughout your home.

  5. Check your outdoor spaces: Inspect your outdoor spaces, including your deck or patio, and make any necessary repairs. Clean your outdoor furniture and cushions, and consider adding shade umbrellas or awnings to keep the area cool and comfortable.

  6. Use natural ventilation: Open windows in the early morning and at night to allow cooler air to circulate through your home. This will help reduce your reliance on your air conditioning unit and save you money on your energy bills.

  7. Upgrade your insulation: Consider upgrading your home's insulation to keep cool air in and hot air out. This can help reduce your energy bills and keep your home comfortable throughout the summer months.
