DIY Backyard Fire Pit!

Building a backyard fire pit can be a fun and rewarding project that will provide you with a cozy and inviting outdoor space to gather with family and friends.

Here are some steps to follow:

  1. Choose a location: Select a level and stable area in your backyard that is at least 10-20 feet away from any structures, trees or combustible materials. Make sure to also check with local codes and regulations for any restrictions on fire pit size or location.

  2. Gather materials: You will need fire-resistant materials such as firebricks, concrete blocks, or metal fire pit ring to construct your fire pit. You will also need gravel, sand or lava rocks for the base of the pit, and a shovel for digging.

  3. Dig a hole: Use a shovel to dig a hole that is approximately 2 feet deep and about 3 feet wide. Make sure that the sides of the hole are sloped inward to provide stability to the pit.

  4. Add base layer: Fill the bottom of the pit with a layer of gravel, sand or lava rocks. This will provide a stable base and allow for proper drainage.

  5. Construct the fire pit: Use fire-resistant materials to build the walls of the fire pit. You can create a circular or square pit by stacking fire bricks or concrete blocks. If using a metal fire pit ring, simply place it in the center of the hole.

  6. Add finishing touches: Once the fire pit is constructed, add a final layer of lava rocks or fire glass on top to create a decorative finish.

  7. Enjoy: You are now ready to enjoy your new backyard fire pit! Make sure to follow all safety precautions, such as keeping a fire extinguisher nearby, and never leave the fire unattended.
